Features of Toast POS Support

  1. Full System Set-Up

When you purchase Toast POS, you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team to set up the software. Toast will not leave you to figure out on your own what you need to do to have the system up and running. The team works with you through every single set-up detail. It helps you to build a custom menu and how your order requests will flow. The team covers you as you set up your revenue centers, kitchen stations, menu modification functionalities, and discounts.

The Toast set-up team will help you tweak the configurations to the point the system fits your business perfectly.

POS Hardware Set-Up: Toast hardware bundle covers all your restaurant needs. The package includes one terminal, a terminal stand, and an EMV enabled credit card reader. You will also get a receipt printer, a port with five switches, and several cables. You will also receive several screen sizes, and the available sizes are 10”, 15” and 20”. All of the components come in either white or black colors.

To cover you during your peak season, Toast offers a hardwired connection with an available offline mode. The purpose is to ensure your business can operate at top speed to manage the peak season. Toast offers options that allow you to custom tailor your hardware to meet your restaurant needs. Toast offers multiple screen sizes, color options, and form factors.

Toast does not only ensure the hardware is beautiful for display in your store, but also that the device can withstand the spills, drops, and the heat of the restaurant.

Toast cares for your business security, and therefore, the hardware comes with security measures. The devices are PCI compliance and easy firmware updates keeping your business data secure. Toast also checks the memory and the processor to ensure you do not suffer slow speeds when you are in the middle of an order.

Software Configuration Set-Up

Toast Customer Care’s dedication is that your software configuration is seamless, and you will have full support to the end of the process. There are several stages the team will help you through to ensure your set-up is up and running.

Login into Toast: As soon as you sign your contract with Toast POS, you will quickly receive an email from Toast inviting you to log in to the back-end. The Toast configuration starts right at that point.

Bank Account Validation: You should not go live on Toast before you validate your bank account. The validation process enables Toast to confirm that your credit card deposits will process without a hitch. There will be small validation transactions deposits into your account within the first five days of onboarding with Toast. The phase is critical because you need to be sure that all your future business transactions will be successful and available to view on the system.

Shipping Your Hardware: It will take you one to two weeks from the date of the request to receive the hardware. The shipping team will require your email address and the restaurant street address to keep track of your order request. Sign to confirm the delivery as soon as you receive the hardware.

Site Improvements: Toast will not function if you do not set all the site improvements according to the requirements. If you need assistance to go through the procedure, Toast Customer Support comes in handy. Toast has a Project resource, and when you need help to do the set-up, drop an email, and the team will schedule a call between you and the team to help you go through the set up successfully.

Configuring Restaurant Menu: Some businesses will opt to purchase advanced menu configuration package in addition to the self-installation. However, if you choose to do self-installation, there is a guide that is available on the Toast guide. The customer service is open to support you through this stage as well. All you need to do is write an email, and Toast will schedule a call for you.

Confirming Taxes: Do not take your business through the costly mistake of keying in taxes incorrectly. If you need to reach out to the Toast Support team to understand how to confirm your charges, please do not hesitate before your site goes live.

  1. Toast Training Center:

The staff must enroll in online classes with Toast for coaching on how to use the software. There is an available online university with a team dedicated to train and equip the staff adequately. The training focuses on giving robust training to servers and managers.

  1. Toast Offline Mode Support:

There are those times when your internet connection might go down. When you have the Toast offline mode enabled, the system will automatically pick up your operations, and you can continue to take and print orders and process payments as you would normally do when your connection is all fine.

There are points to note to use the offline mode successfully:

Do not log off from the Toast App when the connection goes down because you will not be able to log in back.

Contact the Toast Contact Center to disable the nightly auto-capture temporarily. It is essential to disable capturing payments until the connection is back to give you time to update all the payouts capturing them accurately.

Toast will allow you to take credit card payments while in offline mode. However, the fees will go to authorized status, awaiting the internet reconnection. Toast will ensure you maintain the full workflow of closing checks and shifts.

Resetting Toast POS

Troubleshooting skills come in handy when using Toast POS devices. Sometimes your device can fail to power on or stop responding.

First, ensure that the device has a full charge and that it has the power connection on for a minimum of three hours.

Next, look for the power button and press it continually. It will display the power menu, which shows the reboot sub-menu. You will then need to hold the power volume and the power-up button simultaneously to force the device to restart.

Always get the best out of your Toast POS investment by taking the time to review all Toast POS Support documentation before performing operations.
